March 8, 2022 (Toronto, ON) – The Ontario Electrical League (OEL) is pleased to see the Government of Ontario propose legislation that will make it easier for many in the skilled trades to come to Ontario and work!

The Ford government aims to give Ontario a competitive edge when it comes to the workforce by recognizing all Red Seal trades in Ontario, and by guaranteeing a 30-day customer service standard for out-of-province workers to transfer their licence to Ontario.

OEL president, Stephen Sell, stated, “Recognition – and more importantly, quick recognition of credentials – is critical for the movement of labour across provincial borders! Minister McNaughton has publicly stated that in the next 10 years, one in five jobs will be a skilled trades job. This legislation, if passed, will have a substantial impact for employers as well as the overall economy in Ontario, and will also help fill the skills gap.”

As always, the Ontario Electrical League is happy to provide expertise and assistance in making this legislation become the reality here in Ontario.
